Italy

Italy

Italy has adopted the European Model Parking Card.

Parking spaces

Those reserved for a Parking Card holder are marked with the wheelchair symbol.

Do not park if the space is marked with someone's name or a licence plate or parking card number.

You may use your Parking Card in most EU / EEA member states, and in some other countries around the world.

Look at the entry for the country you intend visiting to see if your parking card can be used.

Visitor to Italy

Visitor from another EU / EEA member state - your Parking Card should be accepted in Italy.

Visitor from outside the EU / EEA – your Parking Card may not be accepted in parts of Italy – you should check locally.

Parking on roads

A Parking Card holder visiting Italy should first check that their Parking Card will be accepted before taking advantage of parking concessions.

Do not park on roads where parking is prohibited.

Do not drive or park in a pedestrian or ZTL (limited traffic) zone unless the traffic signs show it is allowed – check the traffic signs.

In most areas you must pay to park where payment is required – check the parking signs.

You may park without time limit on roads where parking is free but restricted by time but only if your Parking card is accepted – check locally.

Parking in car parks

1 in 50 spaces in public car parks are marked with the wheelchair symbol for use by vehicles displaying the Parking Card. Parking is only free of charge in those spaces.

However, as the Parking Card of a visitor to Italy may not be accepted, you should ask an attendant before parking.

Visitor to Italy – print and display this notice next to your Parking Card
